The York Junior Symphony Orchestra won first place in the middle school orchestra AAA division and was named overall winner with the highest score for a middle school orchestra during the May 2009 Music in the Parks Competition at Hersheypark in Hershey.

Hear the YJSO during its fall concert at 3 p.m. Nov. 15 at Penn State York's Pullo Family Performing Arts Center, 1031 Edgecomb Ave. in Spring Garden Township. The concert will include pieces by Brahms, Tchaikovsky and Bizet.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and kids 12 and younger.

The York Youth Symphony Orchestra and York County Honors Choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at William Penn Senior High School auditorium, 101 W College Ave., York.

The concert will include "Selections from 'Ragtime,'" "Overture to Oberon" and "The Testament of Freedom."
