Several York and Adams county high school bands won honors at the Cavalcade of Bands competition Saturday at South Western High School.

Thirteen area schools and a group of South Western alumni competed in the marching band competition, which included high music, guard, drums and marching in each conference.

Here's a breakdown of area winners:

--- Bermudian Springs: Independence Conference, first place, 79.70 points

--- Littlestown: American Conference, first place, 85.50 points; auxiliary category, first place

--- New Oxford: Liberty Conference, first place, 89.95 points; marching category, first place

--- Spring Grove: Liberty Conference, third place, 85.40 points

--- South Western: Exhibition category, first place, 86.80 points

The Cavalcade of Bands is a nonprofit organization composed of member schools that compete on the interscholastic level, according to its Web site.
