DONATE A CAR, HELP SENIORS If you no longer use your car for whatever reason, you can get a tax deduction for donating it to Jewish Family Services of York. As long as the car has an engine, and you have the title, our service will come get it for free and give us the proceeds from its sale. JFS helps seniors of all faiths in York with such programs as Wise Options, which helps families find resources to cope with the challenges of aging, and Staying Connected, an essential transportation program for seniors who don't drive. FREE ELECTRONICS RECYCLING PROGRAM, conducted by The York County Solid Waste Authority, takes place 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the third Saturday of each month at the Yard Waste Transfer Facility, off of Flour Mill Road in Manchester Township. All York County residents, businesses and non-profit entities are eligible to participate in this program. Examples of electronic equipment accepted in this program include answering machines, compact disc players, fax machines, computer hard drives, laptops, mobile phones, modems, microwave ovens, pagers, personal computers, printers, printed circuit boards, radios, remote controls, stereos, tape players, telephones and telephone equipment, televisions and VCR's. Residents are responsible for removal of any personal data contained on electronic devices and computer hard drives. No electric equipment such as toasters, hair dryers, wall clocks or electric razors or construction demolition, furniture, appliances, white goods or household hazardous waste. There is no fee.
OLD OR TORN U.S. FLAGS are being collected by Conewago Township Zion's View Boy Scout Troop 248 for a future flag-burning ceremony. Troop 248 has placed a collection box in the lobby area of the Conewago Township building at 490 Coperhaffer Road. Flags of any size will be accepted during the township's regular business hours 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
