MEGAN KINGSBOROUGH of Manchester is interning this fall for the Office of Cross-Cultural Programs at Susquehanna University, where she is a senior majoring in international studies and Spanish. GABRIELLE LEHIGH, an anthropology major at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, was named to Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Crimson Court as the representative for IUP's College of Humanities and Social Sciences. She is a 2009 graduate of Central York High School and the daughter of Steven and Pam Lehigh of Manchester Township.

MICHAEL BAHN, a graduate of Central York High School and the son of Glen Bahn and Michelle Bahn, was admitted to Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., as a member of the class of 2016.

NOLAN MYERS of Manchester, a sophomore at Millersville University, recently competed in the 2012 Annual Association of Independent Corrugated Converters Student Packaging Design Competition. The theme of this year's competition was "Design to an Opportunity - Structural Challenge." Myers, of the team "Pirates Plunder - A Treasure of a Mix," won first place in the structural and graphic divisions of the competition. All first place winners receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the AICC 2012 SuperCorrExpo Conference in Atlanta. The winning entries will be on display at the conference.

JOSHUA M. MOJICA, a student at Northeastern Senior High School, was selected for membership to the National Society of High School Scholars for academic excellence.

DEREK BUTLER, a sophomore history and journalism major at Susquehanna University, was an orientation team leader. The program helps new students make the transition to life at Susquehanna. ANDREA PRATHER, a recent graduate of Northeastern Senior High School, received a $2,000 scholarship from the Financial Service Centers of America, the national trade association representing the financial service industry.

LUKE SWOMLEY, a student at the University of Pittsburgh and Central York High School graduate, was awarded a scholarship under The Hershey Co. Scholars Program. He is the son of Mark and Maria Swomley. Recipients of the scholarship are children of Hershey employees and chosen on the basis of academic record, potential to succeed, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience and educational and career goals.

During her college career Feldmann earned dean's honor list standing and was inducted into Phi Alpha Theta national history honor society and Omicron Delta Epsilon international economics honor society. ELIZABETH SCHEIB, daughter of Michael and Lauren Scheib of Springettsbury Township, a recent Fordham University graduate, was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Germany. Under the Fulbright program, she will teach and conduct research on diversity education in Germany for the 2012-13 school year. She was invited into the Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Sigma Nu and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies and was awarded the German Achievement award from Fordham University.

ANNE MORRIS, a 2011 graduate of the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va., was one of the winners in the national essay competition sponsored by Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society. She was named a runner-up for her essay "Persuasion and the Bully Pulpit: Expanded Evidence on Strategies of Presidential Leadership." Morris works as a executive assistant in the Office of the Secretary of Commerce and Trade for Virginia Gov. Robert Mcdonnell. The students were asked to highlight a campus club, organization or event. Merges received first-place honors and a $1,000 scholarship for his video highlighting a variety of campus or´ ganizations, including the Honors Program and Dance Club. STERLING MANUEL JOSE FEESER, a 2010 graduate of York Suburban Senior School, earned a grade-point average of 3.53 and was named to the Oxford College of Emory University honors list for the spring semester. He is the son of Sterling F. and Maria G. Feeser of the York area. Feeser completed all the requirements for the Bonner Leader Program in May and will receive a $1,000 scholarship. He volunteered 20 hours a week during the fall and spring
semesters in a teacher-assistant position at Newton Senior High School in Covington, Ga., as part of the requirements. The university administration selected Feeser to be a Resident Assistant for the 2011-12 academic year. He served as a freshman representative, treasurer of the Chemistry Club, president of Competitive Four-Square Club and public relations chairperson of Ultimate Frisbee. He also participated in Anime Club and Scuba Diving Club, and was certified as an advanced open-water diver in Cozumel, Mexico, in May.

MADISON MILLS of Spring Garden Township, daughter of Michele and Matt Chronister and James Mills, has been accepted to attend Interlochen Arts Academy, a fine-arts boarding high school in Michigan, to study musical theatre. Previously, Madison was a student at York Suburban High School.

DARCEY K. PETERSON graduated from Susquehanna University with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration with an emphasis in human resource management. She is a Central York High School graduate and the daughter of Brett and Cynthia Peterson of the York area. Peterson hopes to attend graduate school for a master's degree in human resource management.

ERIN REILLY, a violist and rising senior at Central York High School, participated in the MENC All-National Honor Ensembles at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on June 26. Erin was one of 300 students participating from all around the United States and was one of four students representing Pennsylvania in the 76-member national orchestra and one of two in the string section.

IAN W. MONK, a 2007 graduate of York Suburban Senior High School and the son of John and Kathryn Monk of the York area, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Bucknell University.

KELSEY LYN SMITH graduated with honors, Phi Beta Kappa, from James Madison University May 5 with a bachelor's degree in English and a minor in women's studies. ERIC DETZEL graduated summa cum laude from the Honors College at Mount St. Mary's University with degrees in math and computer science. He was recognized at the Honors Convocation as a member of the national math and computer science honor societies and received the McCullough Memorial Award and McGrew Memorial Award for outstanding academic achievement. As a member of the men's soccer team, Detzel was honored at the 2011 Blue and White Sports Banquet as a Northeast All-Conference First Team selection, an Academic All-American First Team selection, and the recipient of the Sheridan Award presented to the Mount St. Mary's scholar-athlete of the year. Detzel is employed as a computer programmer at Falcon Technologies in the Philadelphia area. He is a 2007 graduate of Central York High School and the son of Dan and Rhonda Detzel.

NATHAN JOSHUA WOODCOCK of Mount Wolf, a graduate of the York Home School Association, will attend Philadelphia Biblical University in Langhorne, Bucks County, as a social studies major and will play on the soccer team.

LAURIE JELLISON, a 2011 graduate of York Suburban Senior High School and the daughter of William and Joanne Jellison of the York area, received a $1,000 Gleaner Life Insurance Society Scholarship Foundation award and was also awarded a Presidential Scholarship from Hope College for academic achievement. BOBBY RATCLIFFE participated in the 2011 Alternative Spring Break program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. For his Alternative Spring Break trip, he traveled to New Orleans, where he worked with community events, with an emphasis on personal service reflections. During the trip, students lived at Camp Restore on the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and School in New Orleans East. During high school, he was a dual-enrollment student attending Washington University in St. Louis and Penn State University in York. During the fall semester at Oxford College of Emory University he was selected for the Bonner Leaders program. The program selects 20 freshmen yearly to participate in the two-year program.

ELIZABETH-JANE PAVLICK McGUIRE has earned her Ph.D in theology from The Catholic University of America. She successfully defended her dissertation titled "Such Harmony is in Immortal Souls: The Spirituality of Music Explored through the Life and World of Ralph Vaughan Williams" on Dec. 2.

McGuire is a 1998 graduate of York Suburban High School and a 2001 graduate of Villanova University with degrees in theology and honors liberal arts.

She holds a master's degree in sacred music from Duquesne University and a master's degree in theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville. Two of McGuire's articles have been published in "Collectanea Francescana" and the "Newman Studies Journal."

She has previously taught at The Catholic University of America and Marymount University. This spring, she will teach a graduate course at Villanova University based on her research as well as an undergraduate course in world religions at Immaculata University.

McGuire is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles T. Pavlick Jr. of Springettsbury Township. She and her husband, Dr. Steven F. McGuire, have a 5-month-old daughter.

To be named a University Scholar, students must have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 in full-time study for the past two semesters or equivalent credit hours of part-time study. JOYCE KING HAMPTON was awarded a doctorate of education from the University of Massachusetts on May 14. She is the daughter of Richard W. King of the York area and the late Evelyn Brumbaugh King. Hampton and her husband, Stephen Hampton, reside in East Longmeadow, Mass., with their sons, Thomas and Michael. Dr. Hampton graduated from Central York High School, received her bachelor's degree at the University of Texas and earned a master's degree at the University of Massachusetts.

BRYCE R. BEARD of York Haven is pursuing a degree in chemical engineering at Florida Institute of Technology. He is a 2010 graduate of Red Land High School and the son of Homer and Cindy Beard.

JORDAN SHANE DINGES, son of Shannon McCall-Dinges and Ashley Dinges, both of the York area, has been nominated to represent North Hills Elementary School at the Junior National Young Leaders Conference this fall in Washington, D.C. Jordan was nominated by his fifth-grade teacher based on his scholastic merit, maturity and strength of character. While attending the conference, Jordan will have an opportunity to meet Congressional leaders, visit national historical sites and meet students from across the country. In addition to his scholastic acheivements, Jordan has a strong passion for sports, participating in EYC Football and PNH Baseball. Jordan hopes to have a career in sports journalism.

CORY ANDREWS, a junior this fall at Hobart and William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y., had been named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

JILLIAN ZEIGLER of Manchester Township recently received a graduate scholarship from the York branch of the American Association of University Women.

Zeigler is a graduate of Northeastern High School and Shippensburg University, where she majored in biology, earning a 3.964 GPA.She received many biology and science awards during her years at Shippensburg.

Zeigler is enrolled in the School of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University, where she will pursue a DVM degree.

MEGAN KINGSBOROUGH, a sophomore this fall at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, is one of 31 students inducted into the Susquehanna University chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a co-educational service fraternity.

She has also been inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta, a freshman honor society.
