By constantly reinvesting and improving safety and performance, TimBar Packaging & Display has found success in securing new business while retaining previous customers. Founded by Thomas Cline and Kenneth Wenk in 1955 as Oxford Container, TimBar has grown to be an independent manufacturer of corrugated shippers, value-added packaging and point of purchase displays. From a modest 10,000 square foot plant and 10 employees, the company now has close to 1,000 employees and several acquired locations up and down the east coast. From its inception, TimBar has proven to be a responsive, innovative, total packaging solution provider.

TimBar Packaging & Display is a designer and manufacturer of corrugated shipping containers, retail packaging and point of purchase displays. It can also offer protective packing inserts, packaging supplies and fulfillment services. The company markets its products to manufacturers, wholesalers and product distributors. While the corrugated industry remained very nearly flat, TimBar saw a 5% growth in revenue. A probable reason for this growth is the company's steadfast dedication to remaining customer-centric. TimBar is large enough to service big companies but small enough to provide personalized service. With broad services and product offering, customers receive tailored solutions to suit their company's needs.

The customer is always at the forefront to TimBar's business strategy. In 2011, several new measures were implemented to measure customer service.

The adoption of DIFOTIS (Delivered in Full on Time in Specification) allows TimBar to look at service through the eyes of the customer. DIFOTIS measures how often the customer gets what they want at the time they want it and they way they wanted it. DIFOTIS holds TimBar to an extremely high standard and builds a level of trust and understanding to the customer.

Continuing to improve business, TimBar strives to improve efficiency. The instillation of 3 Automatan Robotic Prefeeders at the New Oxford facility utilizes less floor space than conventional prefeeders. Additionally, these machines helps increase productivity and reduce injury risks associated wit the strenuous and repetitive task of pre-feeding. Administrative offices were also remodeled to provide a more comfortable and productive workspace.

On March 1st of this year, the Global Association for Marketing at Retail announced the winners of its 54th annual Outstanding Marketing at Retail Achievement Awards Competition. Out of more than 500 entrants, TimBar Packaging & Display's Point of Purchase division took away seven awards.

Gold was awarded for the Crayola and Hasbro pallet displays, Silver for Hasbro Chuck the Truck display and four Bronze medals were awarded for Hanesbrand Lowe's Pallet, Hasbro 3D standee, the Clearasil Mixed endcap and the Hasbro Transformer endcap.

The safety and well-being of TimBar associates is the number one operating priority. Regular training and effective communication about workplace safety is stressed to employees and staff. The company's efforts did not go unnoticed; in 2011, the Point of Purchase Division was recognized by the Fibre Box Association for its safety performance. The award is presented to corrugater plants with the fewest reported injuries or illnesses in relation o the number of hours worked for the calendar year. TimBar received the award for plants with over 150,000 hours worked. Vicki Salyer, Directory of Safety, Health & Environmental said, "the facility management team has done an excellent job demonstrating leadership and dedication to the safety process and keeping our employees safe."
