The York Suburban School Board approved a 2012-13 budget that includes a 1.3 percent tax increase in May, according to the district business manager.

The increase brings the tax rate to 20.7122, said Dennis Younkin. For the owner of a house worth $100,000, that will mean an increase of about $26 per year.

Younkin said the district will use about $150,000 of its fund balance to help balance the budget. The district also saved money by not replacing about seven staff members who are leaving and by bringing learning support programs back into the district, instead of going through the Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12, he said.
