The event, open to the public 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 25 and 26 at the Shrewsbury Fire Hall, will feature more than 150 entrants in design categories and garden specimen exhibits.
Both amateurs and professionals compete in such categories as Lady Luck, The Big Spender, Viva Elvis and The Wedding Chapel.
A garden photo contest also is part of this year's event.
I've attended the Shrewsbury Flower Show several times, and have always been impressed with the contestants' creativity and attention to detail.
While a team of accredited flower show judges does nearly all the evaluation, visitors do get to name their favorite through a People's Choice Award.

The Shrewsbury Flower Show was founded in 1949 by former Shrewsbury native and flower enthusiast Mary Carman in conjunction with the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Shrewsbury Fire Company.
The Stewartstown American Legion has a crab feed coming up Aug. 25.

Hake's Sporting Goods, Red Lion Archery and other area businesses donate the prizes, valued at more than $5,000.
Some of the top prizes include a PSE BowMadness Bow Package, Parker Crossbow Package, Savage MK II 22LR Camo Package, Savage Model 14 .223 caliber gun, Winchester 30 Gun Safe and a food-processing package (with smoker, grinder, and jerky maker kit.

Doors open at 3 p.m. for food sales and games begin at 4:30 p.m.
