Sweetest Pint Pub Tour
(SUBMITTED)
What happens when beer and chocolate lovers get together for a drink in downtown York?

Sometimes, it results in a great idea.

That's how planning for the inaugural Sweetest Pint Pub Tour began.

"It all started in a bar... chit-chatting about how awesome it would be to have an event that paired beer and chocolate," said Mandy Arnold, president of Gavin Advertising in York.

Gavin committed to managing and marketing the event, and over the past three months, the pub tour has slowly come together. Part of that is thanks to Gavin's current marketing intern, Casey Rohrbaugh. A graduate of Spring Grove Area High School and a senior at York College, Rohrbaugh is pursuing a degree in public relations.

"We try to come up with a program or something an intern can manage under the guidance of senior staff," Arnold said. "This is a great opportunity."

The Sweetest Pint Pub Tour kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at Central Market, 34 W. Philadelphia St., where participants will register and split into groups of 20 to 25 people.

Once assigned a tour guide, groups will visit each of the six participating pubs - White Rose Bar & Grill, Maewyn's, Bistro 19, Mudhook Brewing Co., Holy Hound Taproom and Liquid Hero Brewery - to sample chocolate-inspired dishes paired with different craft beers. The event runs from 4 to 7 p.m.

Each pub is responsible for its own dishes, and Wolfgang Candy Co. is looking to contribute some of the chocolate.

"It will be a little bit of the expected and also the unexpected dishes, which is what we're really thrilled about because the tour-goer is going to be able to get this whole experience in just a couple of hours," Arnold said.

The event will max out at 150 participants, which Arnold said is to keep the groups manageable.

"We want to keep it an environment where (tour-goers) are able to hear about the beers and go into the venues and interact with each other," she said. "It's about the experience, which is why it's called a pub tour and not a pub crawl."
