PITTSBURGH—The strongest part of the super storm spawned by Sandy is expected to blow through the Pittsburgh area by the end of Tuesday, but the city and many suburbs and other western Pennsylvania towns aren't taking a chance and are postponing trick-or-treating.

Towns including East McKeesport, East Pittsburgh, North Braddock, North Versailles, Ross Township, Swissvale, Turtle Creek, Wilmerding, Heidelberg and Forest Hills are joining the city in pushing back the traditional Halloween activity from Wednesday until Saturday night.

Several inches of rain and sustained winds above 30 mph are expected when the worst part of the storm passes through.
