A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with an SUV Sunday afternoon in York near Wal´ lace and North Sherman streets.

The man was identified as Jesse Lee Alston, 38, said Jeffri Goodfellow, York County deputy coroner.

Alston died of multiple blunt force trauma from the impact of the collision, Goodfellow said.

The crash occurred at 3:18 p.m.

Russel Berwick has seen a lot of near- crashes at that intersection in the year he has lived on Wallace Street.

"People come whipping down this street because there's no stop signs," he said.

Alston's next-of-kin have been notified, and York City Police is investigating, Goodfel´ low said.

Reported earlier: The crash appeared to involve an SUV and a motorcycle.

Sherman Street is closed from Wallace Street to Chestnut Street. The sidewalk along Sherman Street also is closed between Wallace and Chestnut streets. A York city police chaplain was called to the scene.

As of 5 p.m. the scene was cleared and police were taking photos.

More information will be available after the identification of the victim is confirmed, police said.

4:20: Emergency crews are being dispatched to the scene of a crash that has killed a motorcyclist, a 911 dispatcher says.

The crash is near the intersection of East Philadelphia and North Sherman streets.
