Throughout the season, she has been the team's No. 3 runner and competing in her first Centennial Conference Championship last weekend, she finished 56th out of 113 runners (second on her team) with a 6K time of 24:03.6. Her best 6K effort came in a meet in Salisbury, Md., when she finished 24th out of 117 runners in a time of 23:59.
"Julia has been a pleasant surprise," coach John Stoudt said. "We didn't even know she was attending and considering running until a few weeks before the season started. I can tell you that she was well prepared for college running and the training differences from high school.
"Apparently she prepared herself quite well over the summer. Her endurance, fitness level and running strength is fine, however she can and needs to get faster, especially when we switch to track races."
