Anglican Lessons and Carols service planned Dec. 30

St. Benedict's Episcopal Church will host a popular service of Lessons and Carols at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 30.

The service is so popular that churches of the Anglican Communion throughout the world use it.

The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus is told in short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols and hymns.

St. Benedict's rents the historic St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church at 315 N. Constitution Ave. in New Freedom for the service. Light snacks and beverages will be served in Neumann Hall, directly behind the church, following the service.
