The Shrewsbury Flower Show is always a fantastic event but this year will be even better with the addition of a garden photo contest.

Alan Miller of River Rock Landscape is sponsoring and judging the contest, which is divided into youth and adult classes in three categories: landscape plants, wildlife in landscape and home landscape.

There is no entry fee but other requirements must be met: photo size up to 8 1/2 x11 mounted on rigid surface; taken by participant; and name, address and phone number on back. All photos must be submitted 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 24 or 8 to 10 a.m. Aug. 25 at the Shrewsbury Fire Hall, 25 W. Forrest Ave.

To learn more, call Miller at 717-887-5375.

As for the rest of the show, committee organizers are expecting about 100 entrants to compete in 25 categories under the theme "Viva! Las Vegas!" Another 50 or so will participate by exhibiting garden specimens.

For details on the show, how to enter or obtain a brochure with a complete listing of this year's show categories, call committee members Sharon Hartenstein at 235-1130 or Sherrill Trimpey at 235-2715.

The show runs 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 25 and 26 at the fire hall.
