Hospice & Community Care’s Pathways Center for Grief & Loss is looking for volunteers to serve as adult “buddies” to accompany grieving children and teens at Camp Mend A Heart, a one-day camp for children and teens 6 to 18 years old who are coping with a loss, and Camp Chimaqua, an overnight weekend camp, for grieving children 6 to 12 years old.
Camp Mend A Heart will be held June 1 and Camp Chimaqua will be held June 7 to 9. Both camps are held in York County. The focus of each camp is to help children learn about loss while still having fun. Throughout camp, each child is paired with a specially trained adult buddy for supervision, support and companionship. Adults interested in volunteering can call Sonya Hershey-Velasco at the Pathways Center at 717-391-2413. For details about these camp opportunities, visit www.pathwaysthroughgrief.org.
