Showcase features businesses >> The second annual Chanceford Township business showcase will be 2 to 6 p.m. April 10 at New Bridgeville Fire Hall.

Maddi Brightbill: a junior violist in the Red Lion Area School District, was selected to participate in the PMEA All-State Orchestra held in Hershey March 27, 28, and 29 and at a concert at the Forum in Harrisburg March 29. The PMEA All-State Orchestra included 140 musicians from districts throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Maddi was selected by audition from the PMEA Region IV/V orchestra festival. Submitted

Township residents are invited to come to meet and greet their neighbors, and to learn about the diverse businesses that are operating in their own local area. The event, sponsored by SonLight Chapel, is free and open to the public.

Rummage, soup sale >> Bethel United Methodist Church will hold its annual spring soup and rummage sale April 11 and 12 at the church, 1674 Furnace Road (Route 425), Chanceford Township.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The event features homemade soups, sandwiches, baked goods and chow-chow.

SPRING SOUP AND RUMMAGE SALE >> Bethel United Methodist Church, 1674 Furnace Road, Chanceford Township will hold its annual spring soup and rummage sale 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 11 and 9 a.m. to noon April 12.

Soups available are chicken-corn soup, ham-bean soup, ham-salad and chicken-salad sandwiches, hot dogs, baked goods and chow-chow.

There will also be clothing, shoes, household and miscellaneous items for sale.

Thanks to the generous donations of the NRA Foundation and friends of the NRA to Dallastown Area High Schoolâ s MCJROTC Marksmanship Team over the last four years, the team has been able to participate in many recent competitions. In that amount of time, Marksmanship has been given the opportunity and competed in four Marine Corps National competitions, an American Legion shoot in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a U.S. Army Junior Air Rifle National Shoot in Fort Benning, Georgia, and a CMP Regional National competition in Camp Perry, Ohio. The team also participates in multiple local shoots in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. Next year, Dallastownâ s MCJROTC will be establishing a precision shooting team as a division of the Marksmanship team, which will shoot at the collegiate level. Submitted

BREAKFAST AT THE FIRE HALL >> An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be 8 to 11 a.m. April 13 at Goodwill Fire Company, 1 S. Main St., Jacobus.

Menu includes bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, French toast, potatoes, creamed chipped beef, sausage gravy, toast, biscuits, coffee, tea, milk, orange juice/drink and chocolate milk.

Cost is $7.50, $4 for children ages 2 to 12 and free for children younger than 2.

EASTER EGG HUNT >> Christ United Methodist Church of Jacobus' third annual Easter egg hunt will be 2 p.m. April 12 at the Lake Park building, 18 Water St., Jacobus.

AMBA blood screening event >> An AMBA blood screening event will be 6 to 10 a.m. April 26 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 45 First Ave., Red Lion.

There will be 33 specific blood tests plus other optional tests. Tests include cholesterol and triglyceride levels, glucose check for diabetes, blood cell counts and mineral levels in blood, checks for liver disease and kidney disease and more. Thyroid function and Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) will be available for an additional small fee.

Cost is $41 and deadline to register is April 19.

Ambulance report given >> Red Lion Area Ambulance Association has released its monthly incident report for January.

The association answered 147 calls in 12 municipalities, including 46 in Red Lion, 50 in Windsor Township, 13 in York Township, 12 in Windsor and six each in Felton, Winterstown and North Hopewell Township.

Volunteer at youth center >> 18 South Youth Center is looking for adult volunteers.

Because of to growing attendance, the center needs adults to man the snack bar, help with homework and chaperone activities. To volunteer, call 717-347-8416.

New authority member >> A son is replacing his father on the Red Lion Municipal Authority.

The borough council recently named Jeffrey Herrman to fill the seat vacated by his father, Henry Herrman. The younger Herrman will serve through the end of 2015.

INDOOR YARD SALE >> An indoor yard sale along with bake and sandwich sale will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 45 First Ave., Red Lion.

BULL AND OYSTER ROAST >> Tickets are on sale for the Red Lion Fire Department's annual bull and oyster roast 5:30 p.m. April 12 at the fire hall, 201 W. Broadway.

The menu includes pit beef, raw oysters, fried oysters, oyster stew, salads, snacks and dessert.

BREAKFAST WITH THE EASTER BUNNY >> The Red Lion borough recreation commission will host breakfast with the Easter bunny 8 to 11 a.m. April 12 at the Red Lion Community Building.

Cost is $4 for adults; $2 for ages 5 to 17; and free for those 4 and younger. Parents are encourage to take their cameras to photograph their children with the Easter Bunny.

Drop off limbs, brush >> Windsor Township's next woody waste drop-off is 8 to 11 a.m. April 12 at the public works building, 970 White Oak Road.

Township employees will assist residents with unloading woody waste, such as tree limbs and brush. Waste can be no longer than six feet in length.

Proof of residency is required.

Cupcakes must be homemade, each participant must make one dozen cupcakes and choose one to enter the competition. The remaining cupcakes will be shared with those in attendance. All registered cupcakes must be at the Senior Commons by 1 p.m.

Everyone in attendance will receive one ballot to vote for his or her favorite cupcake. The winner will be awarded $100 and a matching contribution will be made to the SPCA of York County.
