COREY COMBS of Wrightsville, a junior aerospace engineering major in the College of Engineering, will serve as band company commander for the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. Combs will help lead 1,074 cadets in the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, one of the nation's six senior military colleges.

Lebanon Valley College students MATTHEW HOLLENBERG, a senior music recording technology and music major, and JUSTIN HOLLENBERG, a sophomore music education and music major, will partake in the college's production of "Into the Woods" Friday through Sunday and Nov. 1 to 4 in Leedy Theater of the Mund College Center. Matthew is the musical's pit director and Justin portrays Rapunzel's prince. Both are graduates of Red Lion Area Senior High School.

CHARITY FREIBERG of East Prospect was named to the dean's list for the summer quarter at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga.

DAVID BUTLER, a graduate of Dallastown Area High School and the son of David and Karen Butler of the York area, has been accepted for admission at St. Vincent College to major in management for the fall semester.

KELSEY MARKEY, a senior communications major at Juniata College, won first place in the undergraduate writing competition sponsored by the Pennsylvania Communication Association with her paper, titled "Albert Speer's Architecture and Role as a Non-Artistic Proof in the Strategic Performance of Nazi Germany." Her paper will be included in the Top Competitive Papers Panel at the annual convention Oct. 12 to 14 at Ursinus College. She is a graduate of Dallastown Area High School and the daughter of Gavin and Lisha Markey of Dallastown.

NOLAN DELLER will study mechanical and electrical engineering in Rochester Institute of Technology's Kate Gleason College of Engineering this fall. He was awarded the York Builders Association scholarship and the Eagle Scout scholarship. Deller is a 2012 graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School and the son of Lora and Paul Deller of the York area.

ALEXIS PREGO graduated with high honors from Philadelphia University with a bachelor's degree in textile design. While on campus, Prego interned with Anthropology and Wallquest and accepted full-time employment with the company. She is a 2008 graduate of Dallastown Area High School and the daughter of David and Jill Errickson of Dallastown and Mark Prego of Red Lion.

ELIZABETH ERRICKSON graduated with highest honors from Delaware Valley College with a bachelor's degree in wildlife management. While at Delaware Valley, Errickson was a member of Delta Tau Alpha, the agriculture honor society. She is a 2008 graduate of Dallastown Area High School and the daughter of David and Jill Errickson of Dallastown.

LAUREN HODGE, a student at Dallastown Area High School, received the 2012 Young Naturalists Award during a ceremony at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Lauren won the award for her essay, "Pumpkin Purifier: Removal of Toxic Metals from Water Using Curcurbita Agricultural Waste."

On campus

MATTHEW T. AGUILAR has been awarded an Air Force ROTC scholarship to attend a host college or university. Upon graduating from college and completing the ROTC program, the cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the Air Force. He is a 2012 graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School and the son of Scott Aguilar of Stewartstown.

STEPHEN STATES, a cadet and member of the class of 2014 at Virginia Military Institute, was one of 16 VMI cadets who traveled abroad this summer to participate in the Army ROTC's Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency immersion internship program. States spent a week at the Republic of China Military Academy and underwent military training at a school in another country. He participated in military operations on urban terrain training and observed airborne school. States plans to be commissioned as second lieutenant in the U.S. Army after graduation from VMI. He is the son of Amy Hartman and Robert J. States, both of Red Lion.

JESSICA NAGLE of Red Lion, a secondary education major in the College of Liberal Arts, Education and Sciences at Rider University, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

She was awarded The Margaret Mary Culin Memorial Award, a cash award for a PharmD candidate for academic achievement who exemplifies the motto "service above self." She is a pharmacy resident at CJW Hospital in Richmond, Va.

ELIZABETH ROTH graduated with honors from Ursinus College with a bachelor's degree in biology. She won the Olive Sargeant Hamm Award, presented to the senior woman who exemplifies the best in college life - athletically, socially and scholastically. While at Ursinus, Roth was named to The Whitians, a women's honor society. She was a pre-med student researcher at York Hospital, where she also worked in the OB-GYN and labor and delivery departments. She was accepted to three medical schools and will attend Jefferson Medical College. Roth is a graduate of Dallastown Area High School and the daughter of Mary Ann and Alan Roth of the York area.

MICAH RICHARDSON, a freshman biology major at Grove City College, was named to the dean's list with distinction for the spring semester. She is a 2011 graduate of Eastern York High School and the daughter of Dr. Mark and Theresa Richardson of Hellam.

MAGGIE STAUFFER graduated from Ursinus College with a bachelor's degree in politics and minors in elementary education and secondary education. While at Ursinus, Stauffer was named to the dean's list. She also completed an internship with Congressman Todd Platts of the 19th District of Pennsylvania, working in offices in both Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. NIDAIR COLLIER, son of Annie Collier of Hellam, recently graduated from Milton Hershey School in Hershey. He was a member of the school's soccer team. He will continue his education at Penn State Harrisburg to study mechanical engineering.

JESSICA C. NAGLE, a 2008 graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School and a senior at Rider University, has won a Fulbright Teacher Assistantship Scholarship. Jessica is a dual major in secondary education and German with a certificate in English as a second language. The scholarship, awarded for academic excellence, is to help teach English in Austria for the 2012-13 academic year.

ANNA MILLER, a senior chemistry major, recently received the John L. Geoghegan Student Citizenship Award from the Widener University-Pennsylvania Military College Alumni Association. She is the daughter of Ken and Nancy Miller of East Prospect. At Widener, Miller is a member of the Presidential Service Corp/Bonner Leaders Program, which requires members to donate 300 hours of community service. She also serves as site team leader at City Team International in Chester, where she coordinates the efforts of 10 other PSC students to help City Team better serve their clients. In recognition of her exceptional leadership skills, Miller was invited to become a member of the Bonner Advisory Board, where she helps to plan and lead national conferences. In 2011, Miller was one of only 135 students nationwide selected as a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact. Miller serves as the student body representative on the Widener Board of Trustees, and was selected to serve as Widener President-for-a-Day in April, assuming the role of university President James T. Harris III for a day while he attended Miller's classes and extracurricular activities.

The center honored Robert, a participant in the 2011 CTY Talent Search, for his exceptional performance on a rigorous, above-grade-level test given to academically talented second- through eighth-grade students.

TINA M. MALEC of Windsor Township was named to the dean's list at Eastern Mennonite University, where she completed the adult degree RN-BSN in nursing program at the Lancaster campus. She was also awarded York Hospital's Fall 2011 Evidence-Based Practice Research Fellowship for Nursing.

MICHAEL DRUCK, a junior at Lebanon Valley College and a member of Red Lion Zion United Methodist Church, recently received a $1,000 Karen Layman Gift of Hope Scholarship, awarded by the General Board of Higher Education and ministry of the United Methodist Church. He is a 2009 graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School and the son of Susan and Eugene Druck of Red Lion.

WAYNE DELLER and RYAN HIGGINS, both of Windsor, each received a $4,000 E. Ann Klein Scholarship in September during a banquet at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.

ALLISON C. FLEMING of Red Lion, an English major at Western New England University, was inducted into the chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta during the University's convocation ceremony in August. Allison was also recognized by the Western New England University Department of English for her literary work "A Noiseless Patient Spider." As a featured freshman author, Fleming's essay will be published in "Fresh Voices: An Anthology of First-Year Writing."

MAVISH A. MANGO of Red Lion, earned a master of business administration degree from Benedictine University.

COLE KNISLEY, son of Barbara Knisley of Windsor, was one of six Milton Hershey School students recently inducted into the National Honor Society at a special ceremony held in Founders Hall on the MHS campus. A junior at Milton Hershey School, Cole participates on the school's wrestling, spring track, cross country, and football teams. In addition, he received the Spirit Award in track and field. Cole is also consistently listed on the school's Effort and Conduct and honor/distinguished honor rolls.

ERIN MARIE GRAYSON, daughter of Angela Grayson of York Township and Bill Grayson of New York, recently toured parts of China through the International Scholar Laureate Program (www.scholarlaureate.org). The program provides high-achieving students the opportunity to take part in a learning experience designed to inform and enrich their career objectives and foster ambition to achieve their lifelong goals. Grayson is a graduate of Harrisburg Area Community College.

LEE PHARO-FRANK graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration with emphasis in global business management and finance from Susquehanna University. He is a graduate of Dallastown Area High School and the son of Thomas Frank and Sara Pharo of Dallastown. Pharo-Frank's activities at Susquehanna included participating indoor and outdoor track and field.

JEFFREY ROWAND was awarded a medical degree from Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Penn State College of Medicine. He is a 2003 graduate of Dallastown Area High School and received a bachelor of arts degree from Franklin and Marshall College. Rowand will continue his training in a family medicine residency at UPMC St. Margaret in Pittsburgh.

She did her graduate thesis on "Sex-Dependent Molecular Alterations during Development of Alcoholic Cardiomyopathy in Rats." Fogle is a 2001 graduate of Eastern York High School and received her bachelor of science degree from York College. She has accepted a postdoctoral appointment in the Department of Surgery at the University of Connecticut Health Center.

LINDSAY A. RUTTER, a recent graduate with an English/psychology major at Albright College, received a departmental distinction award; the Mr. & Mrs. Charles S. Kelchner Memorial Award, an English faculty department award to students who are outstanding in both oral and written communication; and a lifetime membership in the Society of Jacob Albright Scholars during Albright College's 2011 Honors and Awards ceremony held May 1. She is a resident of the Hellam area and a graduate of Eastern York High School.

LUKE BURNSIDE of Windsor Township was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Shippensburg University, and graduated in May with a business/marketing degree. He is the son of Damian and Stacie Burnside, and will join his family business, Maple Donuts, as a sales/marketing manager.

ANNA MILLER of East Prospect, a junior chemistry major at Widener University in Chester, was recently honored as a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact. The Newman Civic Fellows Awards recognize inspiring college student leaders who have demonstrated an investment in finding solutions for challenges facing communities throughout the country. At Widener, Miller is a member of the Presidential Service Corps /Bonner Leaders Program, which requires members to donate 300 hours of community service. She also serves as site team leader at City Team Ministries in Chester, where she coordinates the efforts of 10 other PSC students to help City Team better serve their clients. In recognition of her exceptional leadership skills, Miller was invited to become a member of the Bonner Advisory Board where she helps to plan and lead national conferences. She is the daughter of Ken and Nancy Miller of East Prospect.

SHANNON BILYEU of Red Lion received the Patricia and Jim Chase Pharmacy Endowed Scholarship at the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy Scholarships and Awards Convocation.

ZACHARY TASSONE of Red Lion, a senior at West Chester University, was named to the dean's list. He is a graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School and the son of Anthony and Laura Tassone. Tassone was also recently honored at a banquet given for student leadership and has been selected to be included in the 2011 Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She is a 2009 graduate of Dallastown Area High School and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hyman of Springfield Township. Hyman is a dean's-list student and co-chair of the Ship Trip Program that allows underprivileged middle-school students to learn about post-secondary education.

KELSEY MCCLEARY, a graduate student working toward a doctorate in veterinary medicine, received the Gilbreath McLorn Veterinary Scholarship from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri. She is a 2006 graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School and graduated from Delaware Valley College in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in animal science. McCleary is the daughter of David and Rhonda McCleary of Chanceford Township.

BRIDGETTE SHENBERGER of Hallam graduated with academic honors from the Commonwealth Technical Institute at the Hiram G. Andrews Center in Johnstown, receiving a certificate in the office technology program.

REBECCA SELLERS of Wrightsville, a senior at Eastern York High School, was accepted to Lycoming College in the fall and received a Lycoming College academic scholarship. She is active in Girl Scouts, Future Farmers of America and National Honor Society.

JOHN RIGGS, an honors psychology major, received third place in the Sigma Xi science competition at the sixth annual Undergraduate Scholars Forum at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He is a 2007 graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School and the son of Shawn and Mary Lee Riggs of the York area.

ROBERT P. "BOBBY" DAVIS, a freshman enrolled in the fisheries biology program at Mansfield University, earned a 4.0 grade-point average, placing him on the President's List for both the fall and spring semesters. He is a 2010 graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School, and is the son of Robert and Donna Davis of North Hopewell Township and Tracy Davis of Windsor Township. Davis was recently honored at an awards banquet at the University with the Nauman Environmental Award for academic excellence.

CHELSEA STEIN of Red Lion, a senior art-commercial design major at Lycoming College, was featured in the 2011 publication of Tributary, Lycoming College's literary magazine, with the artwork titled "Tide." Tributary features student writing and photography and gives creative writing majors the experience of performing hands-on editorial work.

GRANT INNERST, son of Randy and Rosemary Innerst of Red Lion, received a Clarence Schock Foundation Scholarship. He will graduate from Red Lion Area Senior High School this spring and plans to major in mathematics at Shippensburg University.

DAVID STOVERSCHLEGEL was on the dean's list for the fall semester for the College of Visual and Performing Arts, the College of Arts and Sciences and the Honors College of West Chester University. A resident of York Township and a 2007 Dallastown Area High School graduate, he is majoring in music education and psychology.

JESSICA DOUDRICK of Red Lion, a sophomore communications and theatre major with an option in broadcasting at Millersville University, was inducted into Alpha Epsilon Rho, the nation's oldest broadcasting honor society, at the 69th convention of the National Broadcasting Society-Alpha Epsilon Rho in Los Angeles in March. Doudrick has been a member of the university's National Broadcasting Society for two years, serving as treasurer; and is a news anchor, production assistant and production mentor for MUTV-99, Millersville's student-run television station.

EMILY McKINLEY, a senior athletic training major at Lock Haven University, was one of three students from the state of Pennsylvania selected to participate in the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) iLead program in Washington, D.C., in February. She is a 2007 graduate of Dallastown Area High School and the daughter of Steven and Carol McKinley. McKinley plans to attend graduate school after graduating from Lock Haven in May.

Jeter is a behavioral support consultant at PA Comprehensive Behavioral Health in York. She received her bachelor of arts degree in communication studies in 2000 from West Chester University and a bachelor of science degree in elementary and early childhood education in 2010.

BRITTANY CALLAHAN of Wrightsville is a senior in the Equine Business Management Program at Cazenovia College in New York. As an intern at Hilltop Farm in Colora, Md., Callahan was entrusted with finding a new home for Festrausch, a 1994 Westfalen stallion. After a lot of research online to find out about other institutions' breeding programs, she discovered her own Equine Education Center at Cazenovia College was considering taking on a new stallion. Now at Cazenovia, Festrausch will be involved in teaching students at the Equine Education Center, standing at stud for the college's breeding program and for breeders throughout the Central New York region and beyond.

REBECCA KNIER of Wrightsville, a freshman at Millersville University of Pennsylvania and a member of the University's chapter of National Broadcast Society, was selected as a regional Rookie of the Year at this year's regional conference held in November. Her accomplishments included fundraising; video production on Millersville University's television program, MUTV 99, "Improv Molotov"; her work on the award-winning NBS homecoming float; and her work on MUTV news.

BENJAMIN DALTON, a junior in the John G. Rangos Sr. School of Health Sciences, has been named to the spring dean's list at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He is a 2008 graduate of Dallastown Area High School and the son of Catherine and Dale Dalton of York Township.

JASON COLLIER, a nuclear medicine technology major at The University of Findlay in Ohio, received a certificate of completion of the university's Nuclear Medicine Institute. Successful completion of the certificate program enables the student to apply to the national certification boards in nuclear medicine technology. He is a 2003 graduate of Eastern York High School.

REBECCA KNIER, an incoming freshman at Millersville University, has received the 2010-11 Schock Scholarship, awarded to deserving students who reside in specific counties and who will be attending certain Pennsylvania institutions by the Clarence Schock Foundation in Mount Joy. The scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student with a strong commitment in the field of mathematics education at the elementary or middle school level. At IUP, Romesberg is involved with the Preservice Teachers of Mathematics and the Ultimate Frisbee intramural team. She also received a Chick-Fil-A scholarship, Quarterback Club scholarship and an IUP department of education scholarship. She is a dean's list student and a 2008 graduate of Dallastown Area High School.
