People who live, work or attend school within 10 miles of Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station or Three Mile Island in Dauphin County will be able to get free potassium iodide pills Thursday.

Potassium iodide helps protect the thyroid gland against harmful radioactive iodine that may be released during a radiological emergency.

Tablets will be available between 3 and 7 p.m. Thursday at the following locations:

Citizens Volunteer Fire Co., 171 S. Market St. in Fawn Grove.

Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church, 402 Valley Road in Fairview Township.

Union Fire Company No. 1, 201 York St. in Manchester.
