A shrimp and bull roast to benefit the Southern Branch of the YMCA is set for 6 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday[rha: Nov. 10: ] at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 315. N. Constitution Ave., New Freedom.

The event features a catered buffet, music, dancing, silent auction and games of chance.

Tickets are $40 and attendees must be at least 21 years old. To purchase, call 717-235-0446, or stop by the YMCA at 100 Constitution Ave., Shrewsbury.

The Y will use the proceeds to help fund its Strong Kids Campaign.

Christmas at Indian Steps is only days away.

The annual event is 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and Nov. 17 and 18 at the museum on the banks of the Susquehanna River, just a short distance off Route 425 east of Airville.

The museum is all decked out for the holidays, with trimmed Christmas trees, a roaring fire and a naturally decorated Kiva. Ornaments and gifts will be sold, along with homemade candy, cakes, cookies and pies.

The highlight is a visit by Santa, his helpers, and Rudolph, the Two-Nosed Reindeer, from 2 to 4 p.m. all four days.

Christmas at Indian Steps provides a wonderful family experience that won't hurt your pocketbook because admission is free. Donations are welcomed, though, and much appreciated because they fund the many terrific activities held at the museum.

The third annual Taste of the Valley, a wine-tasting event, is 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Arthur Hufnagle Library.
