Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum will make a public appearance in Lancaster County this week with influential Christian broadcaster James Dobson.

Dobson, the founder of Focus on the Family, will hold a discussion with the former U.S. senator on religious liberty at Lancaster Bible College Tuesday evening, the college announced on its website.

Santorum is also attending a private fundraiser that evening in Ephrata.

Santorum's dual appearances here will be the first for his presidential campaign as polls show him in a dead heat with presumed nominee Mitt Romney in Pennsylvania. The primary is April 24.

The Lancaster Bible College event is being held at 6:30 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Chapel. It is free and open to the public; a limited number of tickets will be handed out at the door. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Dobson has endorsed Santorum's candidacy.
