EASTERN YORK- Freshman Abby Brate, an Eastern York High School graduate, has played in all 23 games and started 22 at point guard for the Pitt-Bradford women's basketball team.

The 5-foot-3 guard is averaging 6.9 points and 3.3 rebounds and leads the team in assists (68) and is tied for first in steals (61). She had 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal in a 67-59 victory over Medaille recently.

"For Abby to come in and be our floor general on offense and defense has been one of the reasons we are as successful this year," Coach Patrick Daniel said. "I love her intensity and willingness to get better every time she steps onto the court. She was very nervous when she started but has quickly found her comfort zone on the court."

The Panthers have won four straight and seven out of eight and are 14-9 overall and 12-5 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
