What do meat and bingo have in common?

The answer is the Stewartstown Lions Club and Eureka Fire and Ambulance Club. The two pair up annually to host a bingo event in which all the prizes are frozen meat, fish and seafood.

This year's night of fun is Friday at the fire hall,

82 N. Main St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for food sales and games begin at 7 p.m.

Tickets include 24 regular games and five special ones. To purchase, call 717-993-5900.

If the weather is bad that night, the snow date is Feb. 8.

For the past five years, Red Lion Zion United Methodist Church has been hosting a free soup supper. The all-you-can-eat meal includes with a variety of soups, salad, rolls, baked goods and drinks.

Kathy Smith writes to tell me that this year the church is doing something different by teaming up with Souper Bowl of Caring, a nonprofit begun 20-plus years ago by a mother who thought about all the Super Bowl parties that happen with tons of food and imagined how we could end hunger by simply offering a bowl of soup.

As a Souper Bowl participant, Zion is asking each of its guests to bring a canned food item, which will be stored in the church pantry for distribution to those in need.

The dinner is 4 to

6:30 p.m. Saturday at the church, 1155 Felton Road, between Red Lion and Felton.

Seating is limited, so make a reservation by calling Kathi at 717-246-7216 or visiting redlionzionumc.org. In case of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled.

And again, the dinner's cost is paid in canned goods, not cash.
