York City Police said that at 8:27 p.m., while at East Gas Avenue and North Queen Street, they saw a green Ford Taurus make a turn without using its turn signal.
Police stopped the vehicle on Walnut Street, just east of Painter Alley. Approaching the vehicle, police could see two people inside and smelled what they believed was marijuana.
Three officers approached the vehicle, and one said to the driver, "Why don't we start off on the right foot and tell us where the marijuana is." The driver, Julio Enrique Olivencia, said "It's in my pocket," according to the news release.
Olivencia, and his passenger, Virginia Merced, both of the 100 block of East Charles lane, were charged with possession of marijuana.
Olivencia and Merced were taken to Central Booking, where they were processed and released, according to the news release.
