Larry Usiku Rankin, 32, of 1001 Hay St., was convicted Wednesday of two counts of firearm possession in furtherance of drug trafficking; distribution of crack cocaine and heroin; distribution of crack cocaine in a school zone; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; possession of body armor by a convicted felon; and use of a communication facility to facilitate drug trafficking.
Rankin also was found guilty of delivering more than 50 grams of crack, according to York City Detective First Class Andrew Shaffer.
The charges stem from undercover crack purchases from Rankin by York City and state police, he said. Federal prosecutors then took over the case.
Shaffer said Rankin faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 40 years and could get up to 65 years.
Investigations into drug dealers such as Rankin are funded by the federal Route 222 Corridor Anti-Gang Initiative and other federal programs, Shaffer said.
