A York City man who was cut during an assault Thursday night declined to press charges against his attacker, police said.

Maurice D. Edwards, 21, of the 500 block of East Philadelphia Street, was getting into an elevator at the Cable House, 400 E. Princess St., about 9:25 p.m. when he was assaulted by a man, police said.

A witness separated the two men and took Edwards inside an apartment, but the attacker kicked down the door and assaulted Edwards again, York City Police said.

Edwards suffered a cut on his right arm and was taken to York Hospital for treatment, police said.
