The YAIAA once again received attention from the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association on Tuesday when the Class AA and AAA all-state teams were announced.
Northeastern landed three players, Cory Bair, Nic Shoemaker and Ian Tyger on the AA team. All three were underclassmen during the Bobcats' sensational run to the PIAA semifinals this spring.
"All are well-deserved, that's for sure," Northeastern coach Matt Wilson said. "I think it signals the type of season that we had ... when they come to play, they come to play."
Also in AA, Robert Sharp of York Suburban made the team, and YAIAA Player of the Year David McGee from Central York was tabbed for the AAA all-state team.
Cory Bair, junior, Northeastern: Cory Bair overcame an early season knee injury to post 233 kills, with 72 blocks and 24 Aces. He was stellar in the run to the semifinals.
David McGee, senior, Central York: Accounted for 27 percent of the Panther offense with his passing and hitting abilities. He totaled 365 kills this season with a .335 attack percentage with 34 digs and 301/2 blocks.
Robert Sharp, senior, York Suburban: His impressive state line of 364 kills, 145 digs, 36 aces and 25 blocks helped the Trojans reach the PIAA playoffs for the first time since 2001.
Nic Shoemaker, sophomore, Northeastern: The areas best setter, the lefty Shoemaker dished out an amazing 1,197 assists and added 227 digs, 86 kills, 71 blocks and 44 aces.
