Saturday marked only the fifth time this season Kennard-Dales offense was completely healthy.

The other four times? The Rams other four wins this season.

Kennard-Dale put on an offensive and defensive showcase Saturday afternoon in Fawn Grove, topping York Suburban, 35-7, on senior day.

A smash-mouth run game isnt out of the ordinary for the Rams. What was different Saturday afternoon was the way Kennard-Dale ran the option and distributed the ball around the field.

Ethan Hornbarger still led the way for the Rams, rushing 20 times for 157 yards, but quarterback Matt Romoser also got plenty of carries, running the ball 21 times for 79 yards.

The Trojans made some adjustments at halftime to try to stop the Rams running game, but with two healthy options, Kennard-Dale wasnt going to be stopped.

When were all healthy the option works, Kennard-Dale head coach Doug Wilkinson said. They had to guess which way we were going to go today. When were not healthy, they can zone in and stop our run.

Wilkinson was feeling so good about his healthy team against the Trojans that the Rams head coach didnt think twice about allowing his offense to go for it on fourth down three times Saturday.

You gotta believe in your kids, Wilkinson said. Weve got a good offensive line and a 240-pound fullback. Plus, our defense has been playing pretty well the last five weeks.

it to hold the Trojans the other two times.

York Suburbans only touchdown in the game was scored midway through the first half after the Trojans intercepted Romosers first pass of the game at Suburbans 5-yard line.

A blown assignment by the Rams defense allowed Cody Waltimyer to break through the Kennard-Dale line and take off for a 95-yard touchdown run.

That put York Suburban on the scoreboard first and fired up the Rams' sideline.

Three long runs by Shane Solomon, Romoser and Hornbarger moved the Rams' quickly down the field on their next possession, which was capped by a Hornbarger 6-yard touchdown run.

Zach Brown recovered a Trojan fumble on the ensuing possession, setting up Kennard-Dale's second touchdown, a 1-yard run by Romoser. Hornbarger added a second touchdown late in the first half to give the Rams a 21-7 lead.

York Suburban recovered a fumbled punt by the Rams with three minutes remaining before halftime, setting up the Trojans on the Kennard-Dale 9-yard line.

Not willing to let go of their two-touchdown lead, the Rams' stood up to the Trojans' run game, knocking Suburban backward on four straight plays to go into halftime leading 21-7.

Hornbarger scored his third touchdown of the game with 9:16 remaining in the game to put the Rams' up 28-7, and Kyle Humphries intercepted Trojans' backup quarterback A.J. Sottasante and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown.

Sottasante entered the game early in the fourth quarter when starter Jordan Knaub was ejected while playing defense for York Suburban. The ejection means Knaub will be ineligible to play in the Trojans' final regular-season game, a non-division game against Biglerville.
