A bluegrass music concert to benefit the Paul Smith Library of Southern York County is set for 7 p.m. Sept. 29 at St. John Lutheran Church, 175 E. Main St., New Freedom.
BlueStone, a well-known and popular regional bluegrass band, will perform. While I'm not a big fan of this style of music, I have heard BlueStone and they are exceptional in their harmonies and musicianship.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. They're on sale now at the library, 80 Constitution Ave., Shrewsbury.
Doors will open 5:30 p.m. for food sales, which will benefit Lord's Lunch, an outreach program of St. John's.
The Red Lion Area Senior Center, Gotham Place, York Township, will offer bargains galore during its fall yard sale 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 21 at the center, behind the Red Lion Post Office.
Inside the senior center you will find an abundance of homemade items, clothing, books and other yard sale items. Food and baked goods including hot dogs, hamburgers and walking tacos, also will be sold by center members.
Yard sale spaces are $5 and may be rented by calling Heather Goebeler at 717-244-7229. Vendors must provide their own tables and chairs.
By the way, the Red Lion Area Senior Center is looking for dependable volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors. Flexible schedules and mileage reimbursements are available.
To volunteer, call Judy Gunnet at 717-244-7229.
Planned Parenthood of Central Pennsylvania will host Jazz Night 2012, its annual fundraising event, 6 to 11 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Out Door Country Club.
Dan Levinson's New Millenium Jazz Band will perform and a silent auction will be held.
