Police filed charges of simple assault and harassment against David Rinehart, 68, of Whitcraft Road, Shrewsbury Township, at District Judge Jeffrey Joy's office, according to a news release today from Southern Regional Police.
Southern Regional Police said one driver choked another after a minor crash Saturday morning in Shrewsbury.
Police said they were called to the 600 block of South Main Street about 11 a.m. and that one vehicle had fled by the time they arrived.
The crash, which resulted in no injuries, was caused by one vehicle pulling out in front of another, according to a news release.
Police said the driver of the vehicle that pulled out from a driveway then began a physical confrontation with the other driver and choked that driver to near unconsciousness. The person had visible injuries from the choking, according to police.
Police said the suspect was taken to York Hospital for involuntary mental health evaluation and that charges are pending. They did not release the name of the suspect.
