The library will host a Cupcake War on June 19. Contestants in four age groups -- under 9; 10 to 13; 14 to 18; and 19 and older -- are invited to compete. All participants must be registered by 5 p.m. on June 19 and public voting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded in the four age groups and People's Choice awards will be given for entries collecting the most donations from the public in each age group.
Chef Susan Notter will present a sugar-sculpting demonstration at 7 p.m. Notter is the winner of Food Network's "Halloween Wars," the director of the Pastry Arts program at the Pennsylvania School of Culinary Arts in Lancaster, and a New Freedom resident. The demo is free and open to the public.The awards ceremony will immediately follow the program.
