Bridgeport starter Tim Drew fired eight shutout innings on Tuesday and benefited from the Bluefish's six-run second inning in a 7-0 win over York at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Conn.
Drew, a former major leaguer and the brother of the Boston Red Sox's J.D. Drew, only allowed two hits and the Revs managed only three for the entire game.
Thurman gets early exit: Revolution starter Corey Thurman was chased from the contest in the second inning after only retiring four batters. Adam Greenberg delivered the big blow in the second on a three-run triple and Jake Daubert, Jesse Hoorelbeke and Luis Lopez each added RBI singles for the Bluefish (6-5). Thurman dropped to 0-3 in three starts.
McCurdy stars for Revs in loss: Relief pitcher Nick McCurdy saved the Revs' bullpen from what could have been a disastrous night. The Alabama native fired 32/3 innings of scoreless ball and struck out seven -- the most by a York reliever this year.
Matt Trent and Dave Veres also each pitched a scoreless inning while Reid Price gave up a run in the eighth.
York's hits came from Keoni De Renne, Kenny Perez and Matt Dryer. The Revs are now hitting an Atlantic League-worst .220 through 11 games.
Still tied for first place in division: York (5-6) has also lost all five of its games on the road but remains tied for the Freedom Division lead with Newark (5-6), a 5-2 winner
The Revs will send Aaron Rakers (1-1, 7.88 ERA) to the mound against Bridgeport's Rafael Bergstrom (0-0, 3.09 ERA) Wednesday night in an attempt to avoid a sweep.
Tuesday's game attracted an announced crowd of just 573 fans. That followed an announced crowd of just 587 on Monday.
