Wednesday appeared to be a good night for the York Revolution.

They led late.

They looked to be only moments away from their first road win of the season.

The Bridgeport Bluefish wiped out York's lead and pulled out an 8-6 victory to complete a three-game sweep at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Bridgeport (7-5) rallied from a 4-3 deficit to score five unearned runs on two hits in the eighth, thanks to four York errors. The Revs (5-7) loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth but managed just two runs.

The game turned wild almost from the first pitch in the bottom of the eighth. Home plate umpire Edwin Ortiz ejected Revolution set-up man Jason Olson after he gestured with his arms after a 2-1 pitch -- as if to ask where the pitch missed.

Pitchers questioned Ortiz earlier in the game. But Ortiz didn't waste any time tossing Olson.

Forced into emergency duty, Matt Trent (0-1) pitched for the second straight night. He hit the first batter he faced, and Bridgeport's Ryan Bear knocked in the tying run with a single to left.

Bridgeport took the lead on a grounder in the hole that shortstop Keoni DeRenne fielded but failed to make a play. On the very next pitch, DeRenne fielded a hard grounder but threw the ball into the outfield.

York's late-game meltdown wasted Matt Padgett's three-run homer off the scoreboard in center in the seventh inning.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
York: First baseman Tyler Von Schell has been one of the few Revs hitters unaffected by York's slow start. He has a slugging percentage of .613 with five doubles and one homer in his first nine games. York needs starter Corey Thurman to snap out of an early-season funk. He's pitched better than his numbers indicate, but he has allowed opponents to win, thanks to big innings in his last two starts.
Somerset: Former Road Warriors first baseman Vito Chiaravolloti leads the Patriots with a .471 OBP. He's walked a team-high nine times in nine games. Infielder Josh Pressley has been on a tear, batting .422 (19-for-45) through his first 12 games. Right-handed reliever Jason Richardson has been Somerset's best weapon out of the bullpen, striking out four in his first 4 2/3 innings pitched.
