SCRANTON, Pa.—The home of a Scranton city councilman is scheduled to be up for auction at a sheriff's sale.

After a council meeting last week, Councilman Jack Loscombe said he was scheduled to have a meeting to try to stave off the sale, but efforts by the Times-Tribune to reach him this week were not successful. The home is scheduled to be up for auction Tuesday.

The newspaper reports ( http://bit.ly/12ONNT2) the sale stems from a lawsuit filed by the mortgage holder last year against Loscombe and his wife. Loscombe has previously said he was facing a foreclosure.

The sale also comes as Loscombe pursues a federal lawsuit claiming his civil rights were violated by the suspension of his firefighter pension when he became a councilman.
