Many vehicles lined up near the New York Wire Cloth Company to listen to the Christmas carols. Some beeped their horns.
One of the songs played was "Silent Night."
The York Factory Whistle Concert tradition which dates back to 1925 will continue this Christmas morning, according to a press release.
Don Ryan will be performing at the New York Wire Cloth Company using compressed air and the factory whistle at 441 E. Market St., in York. At 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Ryan will play carols and patriotic tunes.
A one-hour practice is scheduled for noon Saturday.
The York Factory Whistle Committee is accepting donations to carry on the tradition, which they say will continue through community support.
To make a donation, make a check payable to York Factory Whistle Fund and mail it to York County Community Foundation, 14 W. Market St., York, PA, 17401 or give online at www.yccf.org and click "give online."
