The Stability to Vitality campaign kicked off with a "Snowflake Social" on Jan. 12 at the aquatics center, located on North Newberry Street, according to a YMCA release. Officials announced the campaign has already raised $1.2 million, the approximate cost of the center, including debt payments.
The YMCA hopes to raise a total of $2 million, to help further the organization's work, which includes a full slate of activities at the aquatics center. More than 150 youth participate in swimming activities there, and the site also hosts competitive swimming events.
Each year the YMCA of York County serves more than 56,000 people at seven YMCA centers.
