York City Council voted on Tuesday to raise the fee charged to residents looking to change their property's zoning, but there was no new word about a city quarry currently pursuing such a change.
The council raised the city's fee for landowner curative amendments from $150 to $500. Council President Carol Hill-Evans said the fee had not been updated since 1983, adding that such zoning shifts are rare.
York Building Products is hoping to change the zoning of a 16-acre tract of city land that abuts Greenmount Cemetery so it can be used in a quarry operation, with a representative speaking at the January council meeting.
Hill-Evans said on Tuesday that application is not yet complete, and will be considered at a future time.
